By 3orcs | A DM's Perspective on Creating a Living World in Verbobonc When I first started building my Temple of Elemental Evil campaign, I didn’t just want to run the module—I wanted to bring the World of Greyhawk to life. I wanted villages that felt alive, not just as a backdrop for battles, but as places where characters could belong . Over time, that ambition led to the creation of the Hommlet Campaign Guide: Main Plotline and Side Quests , a resource designed to expand the scope of T1: Village of Hommlet into a full-on narrative engine for your campaign. The Missing Link Between Plot and Place If you've read the T1 module by Gary Gygax , you know that Hommlet is more than a village—it's the staging point for an epic battle against evil cults. Temple of Elemental Evil – Leadership Organizational Structure

Temple of Elemental Evil – Leadership Organizational Structure

I’ve created this Temple Leadership Organizational Chart to give a clear breakdown of the forces available to each leader within the Temple of Elemental Evil. This chart focuses on active forces—those that can be deployed on missions, raids, and responses to player actions outside the Temple grounds.
Why This Matters for DMs & Players:
  • Tactical Depth – Know who commands what forces and how they react to intrusions.
  • Factional Warfare – Understand internal rivalries and how they impact power struggles.
  • Dynamic Responses – Plan intelligent counterattacks, reinforcements, and strategic operations.
  • Intentional Omission: Static monsters (e.g., dungeon-bound creatures, traps, magical guardians) have been excluded to keep the focus on movable assets that leaders can actively command.
Whether you're running a deep dive into Temple politics or preparing for high-stakes encounters, this chart gives you everything you need to understand the full military strength of the Temple factions.
What do you think? How do you plan to use this chart in your TOEE campaign?
